“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” -Albert Einstein
I am passionate about assisting individuals connect to themselves and create happiness in their lives. I am an advocate of the powerful process of healing and transformation through psychotherapy which I see as my vocation, as living my life’s purpose. Having deep appreciation for the invitation to help my clients on their journeys and am committed to personal and professional growth. My endless interest and intrigue with human behavior and relationships, as well as my own healing of personal and professional trauma influenced my decision to study psychology back in 1992. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFC#38669) by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
How We Work Together
Each client has unique needs. Some prefer brief treatment aimed primarily at eliminating their symptoms. Others are interested in long-term therapy designed to increase insight and eliminate obstacles to deeper fulfillment. I believe that each of us knows what we need, and the work of therapy lies in defining that need and pursuing it effectively.
The first task of therapy is to create a setting in which you feel comfortable talking about what’s troubling you. Together, we will uncover what is true for you. I’m an active therapist. That means I don’t just sit there. I talk. I ask thought-provoking questions with offerings of new perspectives. I’ve been told I’m “mindfully straightforward” which seems to be accurate!
My work is grounded in the scientific practices of Western psychology, heavily influenced by practices more characteristic of Eastern philosophies. Interventions which involve psychedelic medicine integration, mindful awareness, acceptance, and psychological flexibility can be remarkably freeing and therapeutic.
“There is a wealth of information built into us…tucked away in the genetic material of every one of our cells…without some means of access, there is no way to even begin to guess at the extent and quality of what is there. The psychedelic medicine allows exploration of this interior world, and insights into its nature.” – ALEXANDER SHULGIN
